Why VELLUM exists
Some stories have expiration dates.
I have always been drawn to the history locked in people’s memories: the kitchen someone can still smell, the road they took when they left home, the sentence a parent used to say.
Some stories I would have given anything to hear are now beyond my reach. Nobody meant to lose them. Life simply kept moving, and “someday” arrived too late.
I made VELLUM so telling a life would feel less like writing a book and more like talking at the kitchen table. You answer one warm question at a time. VELLUM helps shape those spoken memories into twelve chapters, but the facts, the phrasing, and the final say stay with you.
The whole digital memoir is free. The work is private by default. If, at the end, you want a printed book for the shelf or the grandchildren, that is how VELLUM earns its keep.
It is still new. I am listening closely to the families using it, and trying to make each part calmer, clearer, and worthy of what people trust it to hold.
